- Advanced Custom Fields Pro Update
I have had this exact same problem for about 2 years now. The way I get around this is to delete the plugin ACF pro using an FTP program. Once it is totally deleted, I download and reinstall the plugin. A complete PITA as I have about 6 sites I do this for because they all use this theme. The ACF plugin probably has an update about once every month at a minimum.
I spent hours with my provider (ACF said it was a server problem and rights) etc. All proved to be wrong and a waste of time…..
As far as knowing whats in an update, I guess that is all in what the developer wants to tell you. Can be a double edged sword as if it is critical well then he just let every hacker know what to hack…. All of my other plugins update just fine and I can’t spend all day every day cyphering through the details of an update.
Thank you for posting, I thought I was the only person experiencing this. I run a volunteer site for sick dogs and I don’t have the time to worry about site management. I’ve had to ignore the warnings after all this time.
When you delete the ACF Pro plugin, where do you get the actual download files for the re installation? I can probably figure out how to delete the files with FTP and install the new plugin files but I thought that the ACF Pro must be purchased, something I can’t afford. And I am not sure how the developer integrates the plugin with the theme. I thought he suggested to me that I could not install the plugin standalone.
I would love to get this resolved as I get Wordfence warnings every day. So much of my site’s design is tightly integrated with this theme (like the bbPress forum) so that I can’t easily abandon it and install a different theme without a lot of work that I don’t have time for.
I have paid for the ACF Pro version. When I delete I go to the wp-content folder and then then plugins folder under that via a FTP program. You will then see a folder for each one of your plugins. I delete the entire ACF Pro folder.
After that I then go to the plugin home page and I have an account since I purchased the plugin. I download it to my pc then install just like it was a brand new install.
Unfortunately, I get lots of Woocommerce errors now and this ACF Pro plugin update has NEVER worked. I am going to have to ditch this theme and go with something more mainstream / better support
This because complicated because of me. I am sorry for your all problems.
You dont have to buy anything for this theme to fix things. Today 23th August, I promise you in this 2 weeks, before end of first week of September, there will be a problem fixing update which does not have any new features.
I was too busy last week to move our server, so ~1 week lost in movement. Btw, this website is now running on php7.0.. at last 😛
In 2 days, FirmaSite free version’s bug fixing will uploaded to wordpress.org for checkup. Pro version’s release will coming maximum in a 5-6 days (depend upon woocommerce’s details).
Well guess what rolled in the other day…. another unnecessary Advanced Custom Fields Pro update LOL! And still not able to update…. No theme update yet either! I won’t even get into my woocommerce errors I am having.
I am done! Moving on from this theme.
To be clear I purchased Advanced Custom Fields Pro for other reasons. The only reason I really started to use this plugin is because the theme stated it was required. Not my choice!
Please update the Advance Custom Fields Pro. Seeing that plugin highlighted because it needs updating in my dashboard every time I go in there is just so annoying. I can’t disable it because it does “something” for the theme. I’m really concerned one day it is just going to break my site and then I will be spending weeks rebuilding the site with another theme.
