- BuddyPress Activity Stopped Working
Uhm, any error? if not, can you check error logs maybe?
Are you using any buddypress related plugins?
You should at least provide link or screenshot, “not working” is not explaining anything.
Thank you for your swift reply. I have attached a screenshot. Until we did the update, last nite the activity stream and post options displayed in the profile.
Yes, we are using numerous Buddypress related plugins:
bbPress | |
BuddyPress Activity as Wire
Bp Direct Menus | |
Bp Moderation | |
Bp Profile Search | |
Buddyforms Members | |
Buddyforms | |

Buddypress Xprofile Custom Fields Type
Buddypress | |
Bp Custom | |
I can set you up an admin account if you’d like to take a look.
Well, first of all, disable ALL plugins except bbpress and buddypress. If activity and other pages works properly, start to activate plugins one by one and test them. You can find problematic plugin in this way
We tried your suggestion, but it did not correct the problem. However, we looked at our error log and found:
“WordPress database error You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘WHERE component = ‘blogs’ AND type = ‘new_blog_post’ AND item_id = 1 AND seconda’ at line 1 for query DELETE FROM WHERE component = ‘blogs’ AND type = ‘new_blog_post’ AND item_id = 1 AND secondary_item_id = 26783 made by require(‘wp-blog-header.php’), require_once(‘wp-load.php’), require_once(‘wp-config.php’), require_once(‘wp-settings.php’), do_action(‘after_setup_theme’), call_user_func_array, plugin_auto_prune_posts_activation, plugin_auto_prune_posts->prune, plugin_auto_prune_posts->delete_post_and_attachments, wp_delete_post, wp_trash_post, wp_insert_post, wp_transition_post_status, do_action(‘transition_post_status’), call_user_func_array, bp_blogs_catch_transition_post_status, bp_blogs_delete_activity, bp_activity_delete_by_item_id, bp_activity_delete, BP_Activity_Activity::delete”
Any suggestions?
Are you using this plugin? https://wordpress.org/plugins/auto-prune-posts/
It cant be theme problem in my opinion. Just disable ALL plugins and check it. Or you can send this in buddypress.org forums if you want.
Edit: notifications and messages are different tabs. Make sure you activated message system. Normally both should display in seperate in menu
For some reason, your site generating so slow (in 30.147 seconds. ). You should check this problem in my opinion.
I see you are using woocommerce too. New FirmaSite Base version will fully support woocommerce with buddypress-woocommerce integration, exchange rates system and more It will release soon (i hope in a week)
That database error definitely not related to theme. I suggest to contact BuddyPress support. Btw, did you try to switch theme and test? Is there any php error you can show me other then that database error?
Yes, I just tested with another Buddypress compatible theme and activity displays on the page. We have a lot of plugins so must be a conflict with theme and a plugin. And as I mentioned, it’s only the latest version 1.41 that we have this problem. When using older version activity still displays. The previous database issues have been worked out. Going to try your Firmasite base theme and see if it works. Thank you!
