- How to translate the theme to a language that has "nplurals=3"?
English language is easy. It has only two forms, for instance: comment/comments. My language (Polish) is a little bit tricky, and it’s not only the one that has more than the two forms. See here: http://docs.translatehouse.org/projects/localization-guide/en/latest/l10n/pluralforms.html?id=l10n/pluralforms .
So how to translate some phrases of the theme to that language?
Actually I’m able to edit .po files in poedit under my linux. But you have only two options: singular and plural form. In Polish language, we have to use something like this: (form WordPress files):
‘%s <span class=”screen-reader-text”>Comment</span>’,
‘%s <span class=”screen-reader-text”>Comments</span>’,
number_format_i18n( get_comments_number() )
msgid “%s <span class=”\"screen-reader-text\"”>Comment</span>”
msgid_plural “%s <span class=”\"screen-reader-text\"”>Comments</span>”
msgstr “%s <span class=”\"screen-reader-text\"”>Komentarz</span>”
msgstr “%s <span class=”\"screen-reader-text\"”>Komentarze</span>”
msgstr “%s <span class=”\"screen-reader-text\"”>Komentarzy</span>”
S0 how to use two plural forms in this theme?
I just said direct link to translation string is not working. I didnt say system has problem with translations. Anyway, this theme using standard WordPress translation support functions like https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/_n
If you have an idea on problem or suggestion, i am listening. As a non-english user, i understand your problems for translation difficulties but i didnt heard a different approach to problem because its really the standart.
